Cryptex is a neologism created for a 2003 book, The Da Vinci Code, by the author Dan Brown, which denotes the mobile vault used to conceal hidden messages. The term “cryptology” and the word “codex” are combined; it is an appropriate name for that system because it uses cryptology skills to encrypt information written on the scroll or codex contained.
